Memento

Shatters
3x5
Clay, Black Acrylic Paint, Wood glue

This sculpture represents the still very vivid memory of when I shattered my kneecap when i was fourteen. I used to competitively ice-skate and while trying to land a jump I fell and shattered my patella in 6 places. This sculpture helps communicate the memory of the harsh jagged lines of pain I felt shoot through my leg, the black out spots I remember as well while being rushed away. I wanted to visually communicate this sharp, permanent memory.
